Q Kiser holds a Bachelor of Music from Indiana University Fort Wayne in Bass Trombone Performance with a Minor in Upright Bass and has been a performer and teacher for over 25 years.
Q has performed on stage, in the pit, on the road, and in the recording studio. His bass, guitar, and vocal performance credits include Electro Retro, The Hat Guys, The Greatest Hitmakers (Rico J. Puno, Marco Sison, Rey Valera, Nonoy Zuñiga), Paris Delane, The Stoneflies, Digable Cat, Ken Allison, and Scott Dubose (formerly 101 Ranch Band), Down Silver, and many others.
Q studied electric bass with Bill Harrison; upright bass with Jeremy Baguyos; trombone with Ed King, David Cooke, and Dr. James Rouintree; organ and piano with Roberta Wagner, and voice with Vincent Slater.
In addition to guitar and bass, Q teaches piano, ukulele, mandolin, trumpet/cornet, French horn, trombone, baritone/euphonium, tuba, music theory, song writing, arranging, ear training, and music transcription. He has taught private lessons, small ensembles, classes, and clinics. His teaching experience includes private lessons at A Sound Education, The Music & Dance Suite, Streamwood Park District, and Mynett Music Company; rock and pop band coaching at Intonation Music and The Music & Dance Suite; brass section coaching at Northrop High School, Anderson Highland High School, and Weisser Park Arts Magnet School; Guitar & Bass Workshop Leader and Jazz Band Director at Sr High Institute of North Indiana Conference of United Methodist Church; and Song Writing, Poetry, and Jam Sessions clinics at Heritage Jr/Sr High School.
